What Risk is there in using your service?
The simple answer is very little. You send us a copy of your digital photos (which you should keep a back-up copy of). There is no obligation to buy at any stage of the process until you agree the final layout. Even if you go through the whole process of ordering the album and are not happy with the quality of it, you can send it back for a full refund. (the only restriction on this, is if we warn you that the images you have provided may not be of good enough quality to produce a quality finish). We only ask you make payment once the album is being printed. Once the payment is recieved, the album will be dispatched the next working day.
How is the album sent to me?
The album is sent via recorded delivery, so a signature will be required on arrival to safeguard both parties.
Are there any disadvantages?
As with everything there are some limitations, which we feel is only honest to point out to you before ordering:-
- The albums only come in the one size, so this cannot be varied, which is why such a high quality album can be produced at such a low cost.
- The final quality of the album is dependant on the quality of the image you provide - so if the images are of a low quality, the album produced will not be of good quality.
- Finally, it is hard to reflect how good the finished product actually is - it is certainly the best for the price. They are very comparable to albums used by professional photographers - we are not claiming this is the best album on the market, but it is certainly one of the better quality albums and a fraction of the price that some photographers will charge.
Is it really good value for money?
When you consider the cost of printing photos in the first place and the cost of an album: the cost of producing this album is comparable. What you are also recieving is a quality product which has had a considerable amount of time involved in producing. For weddings, you can have a comparable product a photographer would provide for many hundreds of pounds less.
How many photos can we have in the album?
This is entirely up to you. Each page can have up to 16 photos on (although they will be passport size). What is important is to get the right mix of pages with a differing amount of photos on each - this produces the best overall product. (i.e. some single page spreads, some with 4 photos, some with 2 etc) If you do want a specific amount of photos included, this is entirely your choice, although depending on the below question, you may have to make some difficult choices.
I'm not too sure what photos to include - can you choose?
If you are not too sure what photos to include, that is fine, send them all and we will choose for you. Alternatively you may have a very definate idea of exactly what photos you want to include - and that is entirely up to you. Finally, you may definately want certain photos included, but do not mind about others - this is also fine. Ultimately, it is YOUR album, and it won't be sent for print until you are happy with it. Sometimes, you will want certain photos but when put in an album, the story doesn't flow right - however, this can all be discussed at the consultation stage.
Can I specify a definate number of pages?
The short answer is 'yes'. However, there has to be some consideration with the amount of images you want in the finished product. Once again, you will have the final say. If you have a fixed number of pages in mind, it can affect the overall image of the product - and reduce the amount of full page images you have etc. Sometimes, it is better to have an open mind about the number of images and pages you want until you see the first draft of the album.
How do I pay?
Payment can be by cheque or via PayPal (which you can sign up to for free). If payment is through PayPal there is an additional charge of £2.
What type of camera should I use?
This is quite an important issue, as the quality of the image you send us will directly result in the quality of the finished product. As a guide, a camera of 5 megapixels or higher is perfectly adequate. It does not have to be a professional camera. Any normal instant digital camera produces good enough quality images to reproduce an album - however, the better quality the camera, the better quality the album. To give an idea, any photo that once taken is a file size of about 1meg is sufficient. Anything higher than this is an advantage.
What is the best way to send my pictures to you?
The easiest way is probably by CD in the post, due to the high file size the images will be - however, if you prefer to send them via e-mail that is also fine.
How do I see the proposed album?
During the consultation process, we will send you 'screenshots' of the album design. These will have been imported into a word document. So effectively we will e-mail you a word document with all the screenshots in it. These will be relatively low quality to assist with file size via e-mail.
Can I make any changes once I've agreed the final album?
No. Once you have agreed the final layout, the album will be sent for print and so at this stage no changes can be made.
How long does the process take?
This really depends on the consultation process. Once you send the images and we know what kind of album you are wanting to achieve, we will produce the first draft within one week. If you are happy with this, or there are very minor changes, then the album can be printed straight away - and this process usually takes about 10 working days. So within 3 weeks you could have the finished product.
Why is a duplicate album cheaper?
This is because there is no consultation process and no further design, so the work involved is less.
Can we order a duplicate album later on?
Yes! - Quite often, when you show people your album (particuarly with weddings etc) people will want copies. We will retain your file for one year after order, and if you e-mail us, we will provide a duplicate at the advertised duplicate cost.
If I want small changes to a duplicate album, does it cost more?
If the changes are relatively minor, then there will be no extra charge - examples are changes in text (so for example, you may want your album to say 'our wedding' and your parents copy to say 'my daughters wedding' - alternatively, you may want to change a few pictures, depending on family shots etc. This is perfectly acceptable at no extra charge.
Why can't I pay by credit card?
We are a small, family run operation and unfortunately do not have the facility to accept credit or debit cards at present. However, you can set up a PayPal account from which you can pay via Debit or Credit card.
